Baskets with 10’’ layer cake squares!




Hello mya beloved ones, what a joy it is to be with you here once again, welcome again to Crafts of The Mommy, and today we are going to talk about a beautiful and simple to make pattern, a wonderful fabric basket, they are mini baskets that can be used in a variety of ways.Who doesn’t love those sewing projects that use pre-cut fabrics! We often have a handful of scraps that we don’t know what to do with… that’s why this easy basket that you can sew with 10 ‘cake squares is perfect, being a quick and easy to sew fabric basket that is also reversible (so the lining and exterior can change at any time).

If you are new to sewing, don’t worry, this is the perfect place to start! This fabric basket pattern is suitable for beginners and can be completed in less than 30 minutes for most people.Fabric baskets are great for storing your favorite craft and sewing supplies and for decorating and adding splashes of color to your home inexpensively. They are also great for children’s rooms. If you want to make your basket with patchwork style, start by cutting little squares out of the chosen fabrics, and sewing them together, forming the desired size for the sides of your basket.IMG_1956.jpg

And for the bottom of the basket, cut another fabric, as in the example, or do patchwork, if you prefer. Then cut the acrylic blanket a little larger than the size of the fabrics and sew a straight seam in the seams of the fabric styles.I love sewing projects that use pre-cut fabrics but I often have a handful of leftovers pieces that I’m not sure what to do with. That’s why I designed this easy basket that you can sew with 10’’ layer cake squares! It’s a fast and easy to sew fabric basket that’s reversible too.If you are new to sewing, this is a perfect place to start. You only need to sew simple straight lines and the materials for these baskets are inexpensive and easy to find. And who doesn’t need a few more baskets? These soft bins are great for keeping your sewing table or desk tidy, or for gift giving.

So let’s get sewing!

To make 1 basket, you will need:

  • 4 squares of fabric 10’’ x 10’’

  • 1/3 yard of medium weight fusible interfacing (I used HeatnBond Fusible Fleece)

  • coordinating thread

Additional Cutting:

  • cut 2 squares of fusible fleece or other fusible interfacing 10’’ x 10’’

Preparation

1. Pair your fabrics together so that 2 fabrics will be the inside of the basket and 2 will be the exterior (just for now since the basket will be reversible). Fuse the interfacing to the wrong side of 1 pair of fabrics (it doesn’t matter which ones). Place that pair of fabrics right sides together. Tip: If your fabric is directional, make sure that the fabric square is right side up.
